We highly recommend the village of Ruislip for its family-oriented vibe and:
- Excellent public transport links and road links;
- Excellent educational provision with a mix of faith and non-faith primary and secondary schools and well-known A-level specialist Bales College;
- Ruislip Lido, in north Ruislip, which started out as a reservoir:
- You can’t swim here, but there’s a beach and a splash pad, excellent play areas, woodland walks and a miniature railway;
- Fishers (fishing permitted 16 June to 14 March with licence) flock to the Lido in season;
- The Lido is popular with runners and cyclists and there’s a (free) outdoor gym.
- The several golf courses in the area, which includes the semi-professional 18-hole parkland course Ruislip Golf Club (closed temporarily in 2019 for HS2 works);
- Swing Dance in Long Drive, Ruislip, the perfect place to learn to dance, meet people, and improve your technique;
- Duck Pond Market, with its petting zoo, farmers’ market, and excellent choice of eateries and food-themed stalls.
